Comments: This place is every girls paradise! Not only a half-block from Waikiki Beach, but full of good-looking/handsome and very "helpful" men.

Comments: I stayed in the room closest to the street (#200) and I heard trucks, dumpsters and street noises all night. I am a heavy sleeper and ended up putting in ear plugs and I still didn't sleep well. I went down the next morning and asked to change rooms and suggested that they warn people that my room could be loud. The other people that stayed in my room felt the same way. The person at the front desk tells me to “chill out because I'm in Hawaii” and that only “1 in 100 people” think the room is noisy and than he told me to get out. I was totally surprised, I've never been asked to leave any hostel or any other place in my life. So I asked to speak to the manager and he said he was the "manager, owner and CEO." He said his name was Andy. I am considering filing a complaint with the BBB because I still can't believe how he acted. I would avoid this place completely. I stayed at a different hostel just down the street for a week with no issues whatsoever.

Comments: I checked into this hostel and checked back out the same day. There was no security at all. Anyone could come into the hostel. It is more like a motel block as entrance to all rooms is from outside. The staff only seemed interested in the girls not helping everyone else. Not sure if they actually worked there or if they were just working for accommodation. on a positive note they do offer free tours to places like diamond head and pearl harbor. Only on certain days of the week though. Rooms had no lockers, no tables, no nothing except beds. The floors looked like they'd never been washed. They say this is the best hostel in Honolulu. If so id treat yourself to a hotel for a few days.

Comments: I went for a private room for one night whilst in transit back to Oz - significantly cheaper than a hotel. Room was tidy with good windows to seal out the usual road noises. The ceiling fan although dangerously wobbly on any setting other than low kept me reasonably cool. I just wanted a good nights sleep - exactly what I got. Only gripe was shared bathroom - it just appeared to have been too well shared over the years and could have done with some decorating, a working sink plug mechanism and a good clean.

Comments: Must say my friends and I had such a good time at the polynesian. The place was nice and kept really clean. The location is great. Most of the staff were helpful and really friendly. In fact we had some great nights out with them. Unfortunately we did hear rumours that it's fun rating has plummeted recently due to new management (and some good nights were squashed because of this), but we definitely had a good time and would stay there again.

Comments: Ive stayed here many times over the years and have witnessed it's slow decay from a really cool backpacker hostel to the crap-hole it is today. The owner, evil lady, has turned this place into just another poorly run motel in Waikiki. It lacks any atmosphere of a youth hostel. The staff, who I feel sorry for work slave like hours in order to get their lodgings for free. The manager is extremely rude and anything resembling fun is immediately shut down.

Comments: When I stayed here the people were friendly enough. The rooms felt a bit smallish, and not the cleanest. All in all i had fun but was not overly impressed.

Comments: What fond memories I made here. Visited as a guest several times over the years, always loved Hawaii and the Polynesian Hostel. The friendly staff, good natured manager and location to the beach made this a once in a lifetime vacation. FUN,FUN,FUN! COME AS A GUEST, LEAVE AS A FRIEND!!!
