Best Zoo in Hawaii
|Jump to Reviews|
The Honolulu Zoo is a place that many people overlook while they are on vacation in Hawaii, but over 750,000 people do visit the Honolulu Zoo annually. It is the largest zoo within a radius of 2,300 miles and unique in that it is the only zoo in the United States originating from a King's grant of royal lands to the people in 1876. Located between the slopes of Diamond Head and Waikiki at the corner of Kapahulu Ave. and Kalakaua Blvd., on the north end of Queen Kapiolani Park.
There are over 1200 Mammals, Reptiles and Birds in residence at any one time. With new animals arriving all the time through animal trades and loans with other Zoos from everywhere. Another pleasant area is the Children Petting Zoo, which has farm animals and some amphibians, allowing kids to feel real fur and feathers while learning about animals at the same time.
