Comments: Nylhsa is right! I went late May of 09 for a week, simply amazing. So neat, Tola is just so sweet, and it was quiet, I can't believe this place isn't full of people cuz' it's just so great! It's a little paradise on the North Shore, so please don't mess it up if you go!!! It would be a shame...

Comments: As good as it gets -- finally found this place after a bug infested night at backpackers (do not go)and stayed longer than we expected. Tola and Maria (who run it) are wonderful and though there is a language barrier if you are not fluent in spanish, no worries, they are as kind and accommodating as humanly possible. The picture above does it no justice, it is a beautiful, lush, homey and, thanks to Tola, incredibly clean hostel, that feels more like your grandma's summer cottage than a backpacker. Book though this site, because they are hard to reach on the phone, but book no matter what, you will be pleased.

Comments: This hostel was fantastic! I planned to stay there 3 nights and ended up extending my stay for another 2 nights. It was clean and the property is beautiful. The beaches are within walking distance and Haleiwa is only a short drive away. Anyone that wants a relaxing vacation away from Honolulu should go here.

Comments: I went to Backpackers for one night and it was FILTHY (as had 4 others staying at Paumalu). Paulmalu is VERY clean, there are separate dorms (sleeping 4) for men and women and it is a beautiful, peaceful place. I am recommending it to everyone coming to Hawaii.
