During the summer, this is the best swimming beach on the North Shore. The beach extends back from the water quite a ways, giving enough real estate that you never feel crowded. The bay is calm, warm, and clear. Volcanic rocks dot the bay, one of which is large enough to be a favorite diving platform.
The water In Waimea Bay is so clear that you can easily see all the way to the bottom. make sure that you check out the cave just alittle bit past the jumping rock. It has one opening on land and another in the water.
When winter comes this beautiful serene beach gives way to some of the biggest surfable waves on earth. Waimea Bay is host to several big wave contests; most notably the Edie Aikau, where a wave has to be at least 20 feet high or the ride doesn't count !
Across the street is the falls park and nature reserve. Well worth the $6 anmitance. Most of which goes to the preservation of the park and all of the hawaiian wildlife.
