Kapaa is a small coastal town nestled in the heart of the Kawaihau district. Kauai's Kawaihau district is home to about thirty percent of the islands population. There are many small "mom and pop" shops in kapaa as well as a few well known national business, so its not a problem to find just about anything you might need here.
Nicknamed "The Coconut Coast" due to the abundant population of coconut palms. Kapaa is located on the east coast of Kauai. The city is not like its flashy resort town neighbors to the north and south, it is more "small town" and offers good choices for less expensive accomodations.
