Comments: If you are thinking about vacationing, living, or volunteering somewhere on the Big Island, do NOT make plans with Hedonisia Hawaii!
They did not only DENY me a partial REFUND (with accordance to their cancellation policy on the website and an online contract I signed) because the owner took offense as to why I cancelled, but he was very rude and condesending the entire process- even when applying to come volunteer. I have been very diplomatic dealing with Hedonisia trying to get my partial refund back!

Comments: This is a rip off. They give you a bed in a dorm or a basic tent in exchange for work that costs about 1000$/month or more if they hired someone.
They are definitely taking advantage of budget conscious travelers.
If you want a single space (room), they ask you to book an expensive room for 4 days (around 160$ + tax). When you point out that deal is not fair, they get unfriendly and tell you to book a hotel.

Comments: I just spent a wonderful month living and working with some great people! Hedo is a very comfortable, relaxed little eco-hostel full of down-to-earth folks that made the beginning of my travelling adventures truly fun and inspiring! It's also by far the best deal around here for work trade, etc. Make sure to check out all the amazing places close by like Mackenzie National Park and Kehena beach. Mojo and Lee, the managers, are fun to work with, very understanding and cool.
