Affordable European style accommodations for the savvy Hawaii traveler
Kona Pineapple park is located ten miles south of Kona above beautiful Kealakekua Bay in Captain Cook. It is ideally located for exploring the west side of the island. The rooms are cozy and comfortable with reasonable rates. Annie Park, the owner, lives here and keeps things running smoothly and enjoys "talking story" and giving the place a friendly atmosphere.
The guests really enjoy the community kitchen and being able to cook their own heated food and keep it in the big commercial refrigerator. They meet and visit with travelers from all around the world. Or enjoy the sunset from the very large lanai upstairs looking out over the ocean. There is a BBQ grill in the patio area, and a video player in the community TV room.
Rent a kayak from Annie and in ten minutes be in Kealakekua Bay kayaking over to the Captain Cook monument to see dolphins or snorkel in the fish refuge. Ten minutes to the Place of Refuge archeological site and Two Steps/Honaunau snorkeling/diving area, and 20 minutes to the sandy beach of Ho'okena. Or drive north and explore the Kona coast and Kohala coast beaches and Hawi, an artist colony and historical town.

Comments: I can see why other people might say the owner is rude on the phone, but I stayed there for a night once, and the place was very nice, especially for the money. And the owner was nice in person.

Comments: We were looking for a place to stay. When I read the previous reviews I thought that maybe it was just a bad day for the woman, but when I spoke to her she was very rude. She insulted my sister and I to the point of hanging up on her. Maybe if you get past booking the room it is nice, but we won't know.

Comments: the woman that runs the place is mean, and she talks down to customers. I was gonna rent a room, but ended up walking out because of the womans SUPER ugly attitude.

Comments: I have spend two month on Hawaii, and this was the best hostel i have seen.
It is a clean, familary place with the most wonderfull people i have ever met. The owner have three locations around the island this makes the planing of a roundtrip on big island very easy.

Comments: I called couple times to ask questions to book a room there, but the lady who answers the phone is mean and rude. Although it was at a location where I wanted, I had to skip this hostel.
